Protest held in support of “abused” domestic worker

Tens of demonstrators gathered Thursday evening in front of the Jdeideh home and workspace of a family accused of abusing a migrant domestic worker, asking the judiciary to investigate further.

Lelisa, along with some 100,000 other Ethiopian migrants in Lebanon, is employed under the Kafala system, which binds them to one employer, and is notorious for facilitating abuse and rights violations.
