Ethiopia’s consul in Beirut Lebanon, Aklilu Tatere Wube, has been removed from his position

His tenure was marked by scandals and more recently inaction in the aftermath of 150 Ethiopian women being thrown outside the consulate by their employers.

In one of his final media appearances, the now former Consul Aklilu Tatere concealed the extent of the COVID-19 outbreak among Ethiopians in Lebanon, telling the VOA that no Ethiopians had contracted the virus when 8 cases had been confirmed. The number has reached 11 now.
