Instagram Influencer Decides to Pay Inie and Jenny’s Salary When Faced With Consequences
Jenny and Inie's employer is a well-known Instagram 'influencer'. She chose to pay the salaries she owed rather than face the consequences and be exposed on social media.

THE STORY
Jenny Love Mendez and Inie Osorio, two young Filipina women, asked This is Lebanon for help to recover their unpaid salaries from their abusive employer.
The women’s lives had become intolerable. In the household of their employer they were subjected to verbal abuse which sometimes became physical. They were not allowed to rest because they were required to be on call constantly. Jenny said:
I needed to eat in standing position, so that I could run to her right away. If not she would shout too much and throw something at me, like remote control of AC.
They would be woken in the night to prepare food for the family and serve them in bed. In winter they were not given a blanket and had to use the small heater for the dogs to keep warm. If belongings in the house were misplaced, Jenny and Inie were accused of stealing them. Their employer even went as far as forging Jenny’s signature on a document which claimed that she had been paid in full and in which she confessed to stealing.
The full tale of the abuse Jenny and Inie suffered at the hands of their employer will never be told because, in the end, she decided to pay their salaries to avoid facing the consequences and being exposed on social media - she is an ‘influencer’ on Instagram. They have been back in the Philippines for over a year. Jenny is still suffering from the trauma she experienced in Lebanon. Receiving their salaries has helped with their healing and the resources needed to live a financially stable live back home.

طلبت الشابتان الفلبينيتان "جيني لوف مينديز" و"آيني أوسوريو" المساعدة من جمعية "هذا لبنان" للحصول على رواتبهما غير المدفوعة من صاحبة العمل الاستغلالية.
كانت حياة الشابتين قد أصبحت لا تطاق. في منزل صاحبة العمل تعرّضتا للشتائم التي تحولت في بعض الأحيان إلى تعنيف جسدي. لم يُسمح لهما بالراحة لأنه كان مطلوباً منهما أن تكونا على أهبة الإستعداد بشكل دائم. قالت جيني:
"كان عليّ أن أتناول الطعام و أنا واقفة كي أتمكن من الركض إليها على الفور، وإلا فإنها تصرخ كثيراً وترمي شيئاً ما في وجهي، كجهاز التحكم الخاص بالمكيف مثلاً."
كان يتم إيقاظهما في الليل لإعداد الطعام للعائلة وتقديمه لهم في السرير. أما في الشتاء فلم يقدّم لهما بطانية، وكان عليهما استخدام المدفأة الصغيرة الخاصة بالكلاب لكي تشعرا بالدفء. إذا كانت مقتنيات المنزل في غير مكانها، تتوجّه أصابع الإتهام إلى جيني وآيني بسرقتها. حتى أن صاحبة العمل ذهبت إلى حد تزوير توقيع جيني على وثيقة تدّعي أنها حصلت على أجرها بالكامل وتعترف فيها بالسرقة.
لن نخبر القصة الكاملة للإساءات التي تعرضت لها جيني وآيني على يد صاحبة العمل لأنها قررت في النهاية دفع رواتبهما. لقد عادتا إلى الفلبين منذ أكثر من عام. ولا تزال جيني، على وجه الخصوص، تعاني من الصدمة التي تعرضت لها في لبنان. لقد ساعد تلقي رواتبهما في شفائهما وأعربتا عن امتنانهما العميق لجمعية "هذا لبنان" للمساعدة التي قدمتها لهما.
