THE STORY
Asha Atuman Mwarome, 22, had worked in Lebanon for 2 years and 2 months. It was time for her to go home to Kenya but her employer had not bought her ticket and owed her 4 months’ salary ($1000). She contacted This Is Lebanon via Facebook on a phone she had managed to buy with the help of a delivery boy. Her employers’ had denied her a phone the whole time she had worked for them. This Is Lebanon contacted her employers on 18 May 2022. Three days later, we received a message from Asha
“I’m now at the airport. They gave me $1000. Thank you for supporting me every moment. You’re the best.”

عملت آشا أتومان موارومي، 22 عاماً، في لبنان مدة سنتين وشهرين. وقد حان الوقت لكي تعود إلى بلدها، كينيا، إلا أن صاحب العمل لم يشتر لها التذكرة ويدين لها برواتب أربعة أشهر (1000دولار). فاتصلت بجمعية "هذا لبنان" على فيسبوك، من هاتف تمكنت من شرائه بمساعدة عامل توصيل طلبات. كان أصحاب العمل قد منعوها من الحصول على هاتف طوال المدة التي عملت فيها لديهم. اتصل "هذا لبنان" بأصحاب العمل في 18 أيار 2022. وبعد ثلاثة أيام، تلقينا رسالة من آشا تقول:
"أنا الآن في المطار. لقد أعطوني 1000 دولار. شكراً لمساندتكم لي على الدوام. أنتم الأفضل."
