Rabih Breitary Beats Up His Worker and Threatens Her Life
Rabih owes Janet 10 months salary. He said he'd deliver her to people who would f**k her till Monday. "There will be blood all over your body."

THE STORY
Janet arrived in Lebanon on 12 April, 2019 to work for Rabih Breitary. She contacted This Is Lebanon in November 2020 saying, “I have been working for the past one year seven months but only got paid for 6 months. Am having issues with my boss being treated me like a slave. I have a lot of evidence against him. He always threatens me and tells me that he has the Police in his hands that he can pay them money and keep their mouths shut. He used to show me bundles of money that if I wanted my salary I should allow him to have sex with me 😭😭😭😭 And I told him that I can't allow him because I have fiancee and am not that kind of person.”

This Is Lebanon received disturbing recordings of Rabih saying, “I take you to people now they f**k you. I keep you there till Monday and I get you from there to the airport. The blood everywhere in your body.” The recording was a response to Janet’s rightful request for her salary.

Concerned for Janet’s safety, This Is Lebanon advised her to also contact Kafa who have the authority to send in Police. Kafa acted quickly and Janet was taken into their shelter. She was repatriated on 28 January. From Ghana, Janet contacted us again informing us she was home but still had not received her salary.
This Is Lebanon made contact with Rabih:“Hello Rabih. We are This Is Lebanon. We have been contacted by Janet Amoah who claims you owe her $2,200 in unpaid salary. According to her she worked for you from 12 April 2019 until 19 November 2020. Her salary was $200 per month. She should have received $3,800 but actually received $1600 leaving a shortfall of $2,200. We know that you physically abused her (see video) and made serious threats against her. The video is currently unlisted. Our goal is not to post. Our goal is to get her the salary she worked for...Let us know how you want to move forward with this.”
Rabih replied:“fuuuuuuuuuuuck you.”
As a result, This Is Lebanon will publicise the video of Janet’s ordeal including the recordings of Rabih.
This Is Lebanon’s priority is to get domestic workers their unpaid salaries and to provide safety and get them home whenever we can. We are committed to ending Kafala and holding those perpetrating abuse to account.

وصلت جانيت، أصلها من غانا، إلى لبنان في 12 نيسان 2019 للعمل لدى ربيع بريتري. اتصلت بنا في تشرين الثاني 2020 لتقول: "لقد عملت لمدة سنة وسبعة أشهر لكنني لم أقبض راتبي إلا لمدة 6 أشهر فقط. إني أواجه مشكلات مع صاحب العمل؛ فهو يعاملني كأنني عبدة. ولديّ الكثير من الأدلة ضده. دائماً يهددني ويقول لي أن له دالّة عند الشرطة إذ بإمكانه أن يضمن سكوتهم بدفع المال لهم. كان يريني رزمات من المال في حال أردت الحصول على راتبي، يجب أن أسمح له بممارسة الجنس معي (وجوه باكية). فأخبرته بأنه لا يمكنني السماح له بذلك إذ لدي خطيب ولست من هذا النوع من الأشخاص ."
أرسلت إلينا جانيت تسجيلات لربيع مثيرة للقلق جداً يقول فيها: "سآخذكِ إلى أشخاص الآن وهم (ي***ك). سأدعكِ هناك حتى يوم الإثنين وأوصلك من هناك إلى المطار. والدم يغطي جسدك كله". هكذا أجاب ربيع حين طلبت جانيت راتبها. كان"هذا لبنان" في غاية القلق على سلامة جانيت ونصحناها أيضاً بالاتصال بجمعية (كفى) التي لديها صلاحية بإرسال الشرطة إلى المكان. تحركت (كفى) بسرعة وتم نقل جانيت إلى الملجأ الخاص بهم. وقد أعيدت إلى وطنها في 28 كانون الثاني. اتصلت بنا جانيت مرة أخرى من غانا لإبلاغنا بأنها في بلدها لكنها لم تستلم راتبها.
اتصلنا بربيع: "مرحباً ربيع. نحن "هذا لبنان". لقد اتصلت بنا جانيت أمواه وتقول أنك مدين لها براتب غير مدفوع قدره 2200 دولار. وحسب قولها، عملت معك من 12 نيسان 2019 ولغاية 19 تشرين الثاني 2020. وكان راتبها 200 دولار شهرياً. من المفترض أن تكون قد قبضت 3800 دولار لكنها فعلياً حصلت على 1600 دولار، مما يُبقي عجزاً قدره 2200 دولار. نحن نعلم أنك عنّفتها جسدياً (شاهد الفيديو) ووجّهت إليها تهديدات خطيرة. إن الفيديو غير منشور حالياً. ليس هدفنا النشر. إنما هدفنا هو أن نحصل لها على الراتب الذي استحقته بعرق جبينها. إذا دفعت لها، سنحذف صورك ونغير صوتك كي لا يتمكن أحد من التعرف عليك. سنرسل لك الفيديو المحرّر قبل نشره لنثبت لك أن هويتك مخفية. كل ما نريده هو أن تحصل على حقوقها. أعلمنا كيف تريد المتابعة في هذا الأمر". إن الأولوية بالنسبة لجمعية "هذا لبنان" هي تحصيل الرواتب غير المدفوعة لعاملات المنازل، وإذا تمكنّا من تحقيق ذلك يكون مؤلماً أن نفقد فرصة كشف المنتهكين.
